Auto-Tune is used to disguise off-key inaccuracies and mistakes, and has allowed singers to perform perfectly tuned vocal tracks without the need of singing in tune. While its main purpose is to slightly bend sung pitches to the nearest true semitone, Auto-Tune can be used as an effect to distort the human voice when pitch is raised or lowered significantly.
Did you know back in the day (1998) Cher made a song with Auto-Tune? Do you know which one? It's called Believe. When this song came out, I seriously thought this was her real voice, her actual singing... but I was sadly mistaken... When I listen to the song now, I realize how obvious the Auto-Tune is especially at 0:43 it sounds so mechanical now...
LAME - Faith Hill
I love her song The Way You Love me, but I recently found out that she uses Auto-Tune, claiming it's a safety net that guarantees a good performance. That's like being a professor and marking students correct when they are wrong... because it's better for their performance! UGH! SO WRONG! However, other singers, like Loretta Lynn, Allison Moorer, Trisha Yearwood, Vince Gill, Garth Brooks, Martina McBride, and Patty Loveless have refused to use Auto-Tune... but do you guys even know who these people are? I don't... what is the world coming to? Fake music?!
Cool - lil' Wayne
I was never really into rap, R&B, or hip-hip but this song made me start listening to these genres much more! Even though the lyrics usually suck, I love the beats and the rhythm.
Funny - Mario! XD

nice, i want to start using autotune now!!! im gonna make some video with me talking and mixing it up autotune style :p
ReplyDeletethat would be cool! I want to try it out too! Maybe make a perfect song with my "perfect voice"... at least it will be. :D I tried downloading it but it didn't work
ReplyDeletealthough autotune can be done by anyone, it is still pretty catchy. soo, dont hate.
ReplyDeleteI'm just sayin it can be a good thing (lil Wayne) but a bad thing by changing your voice to sound better... it's cheating!
ReplyDeleteif its cheating, then everyone should be making big hits with autotune.
ReplyDeleteGood point but the singer's style or lyrics wouldn't change, just certain pitches. So they're perfecting what they have.
